ptit extrait d'un devoir de "culture américaine"..
By visiting some online communities on the web, I've been able to get a more precise view of what is really important to american people. Indeed, as the use of the Internet is more common in the States than in our country, we can consider the various point of views like those released on such popular websites like Wheaton's communities, Fark.com or Free republic, about a huge sum of topics, as the "American peole voice".
And there is no surprise : Technology, music, television, these are topics which interest Americans, like people of other developed countries.
What is really different from Europe in the USA is that american people really believe in the word " nation". Yes, there are some black people, some latinos or Wasp, some democrats, republicans or libertarians, but first of all, there are only american people singing under Stars and Stripes.
Consequences of September 11 remembered this to people who have forgotten : what is most important to Americans is their country.
The USA is a young nation which has been built according to the concepts of fronteer and liberty : as a result, Uncle Sam has the legitimity to spread liberty all around the world. What european peole doesn't accept is the ability of americans to reconcile business and values : when America goes war, it is often easy to see economic interests hidden among american values of freedom claimed in order to justify the war (s).
Economic power, military leadership, international policy, these are part of the security of the country, and this is why these subjects interest american people. If Europe (and the rest of the world) see american government acts as wills of conquest, american people have a different look : there are means of protecting America.
